Becca’s Story

I was born in 1992 in Central Florida, I grew up riding horses, dancing, and working in my family’s businesses.

I made my first skydive in April 2010 and promptly fell in love with it. My first solo jump was a month later, and thus started my 11 year career.

I started by packing parachutes, then achieved my tandem instructor* rating, accelerated free fall instructor** rating, and was working towards being one of the very few female tandem instructor examiners*** when I had my life-changing accident on July 7, 2021.

An extremely hot day created lots of thermic activity, and my parachute did not land properly. Instead, I got dragged across the ground at a high speed, landing on my head, breaking my C3 and C4 vertebrae, leaving me a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic.

I fought for my life over the next week and have very few memories of that time. Since then, I have continued to heal, grow stronger, and build a new version of independence.

But my life did not stop there.

Today, my life looks very different, but it is full in ways I never expected. I’m newly married to my husband, Nick, and together we’ve built a life that feels steady, supportive, and genuinely happy. What started as survival has turned into something meaningful and grounded.

I now work with T.R.A.I.L.S., where I get to be part of a community that values showing people what is still possible. Being involved in this work has given me purpose and connection in a completely new way.

Day to day, my life is a mix of work, and continuing to build independence. I spend time working, Buying and selling jewelry online, and learning to be the best wife that I can be!

Despite everything, or maybe because of it, I find a lot of joy in the small things. Stand up comedy, great wine, and time with people I love are at the top of the list. I feel incredibly lucky to be alive and to keep building a life that feels purposeful and full of love.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your continued support through the years. It means more than you could possibly know!
